My Name Is Micheal Taylor, i am an ex-soldier who went from fighting wars to fighting for the oppressed. It is how i want to be seen. A Defender!
Adiguns’s mansion was big enough to accomodate five thousand people to a cocktail party. Today, wasn’t any different as people strolled into his mansion with their dates for his annual nite out with him, his family, and his friends.
Everyone was invited as long as you got access to a free pass tag and you brought it along with you to the giant gate metres away from the mansion.
His gate was well gaurded with military trained operatives who now worked with private security agencies.
German dogs were barking, which made the invites scared of going through.
Adigun worked for the government. His signature was what was needed to move money from federal accounts to private company accounts to start projects contracted to them.
“Hello, love. how are you?” pecking his only daughter on her cheeks.
“I am fine dad,” she replied, as she scooped a spoon full of ice cream from the cream bucket on the table.
“You better hurry up, we have a lot of people waiting outside with gifts for you.” he said, and walked away.
she went back to her ice cream while Taylor stood behind the curtains till the sitting rooms’ door slammed shut.
The entire area was now filled with well dressed men and women chatting away with tumblers in hand and light music playing from the speakers of DJ salvatore.
“Adigun, now that you finally joined our tiny gathering, how are you? you did a great job with this cocktail party, the pot-bellied retired general Sani said as he stared at the other men in the small group.
“I am fine.” Adigun replied coldly.
“Well we have no intentions of wasting your time with chit-chats, since you were the one who organised this party, other guests wil surely need your attention”
“Here is our own boxing day present for you” Sani said, as he handed Adigun the wrapped present.
Then there was an obvious movement at the gardens beside where they stood.
Adigun was about go check it out, but the Sani refused him.
“Hey you go check it out.” he said to his aide.
“Alright sir” he said, and saluted.
The aide moved briskly into the dark gardens in anticipation.
“He will go check it out for you Adigun, just go and attend to your guest. My other aide will help you keep the present.”
“OK.” Adigun said.
As the general was about leaving for for the giant gates, he turned, and said to Adigun, “The gift is from AEROL contractors, in appereciation for awarding the contract for the new air terminal in Lagoja to our rivals.”
He smiled, and then he walked away.
Adigun gave him a skeptical look, he usually got such remarks from companies who were bitter when he gave contracts to other clients most times.
This particular comment made by the retired general didn’t come out well, it came with a boxing day present.
The general’s aide walked calmly along the lawn, in anticipation. The lawn was dark and very silent. You could only hear echos from the songs being played by the DJ.
He turned, and there came a heavy punch to his jaw. His short gun dropped. It was Micheal Taylor. He picked it up, kicked him on the knee of his left leg, held his head and drew it closer to his stomach and shot him through his jaw.
The general’s aides’ head tore open. No one could possibly have heard that. The cocktail party had become a dance hall party at that time. loud music was every where.
A lot of people had already dropped gifts for Adigun. It was time to drop the special gift from AEROL contractors. Marcus placed his gift neatly on the table, he was careful not to rip off the ribbons that were neatly tied. if pulled open, it would activate the trigger and the entire building would explode.
Marcus has done his job, it was time to leave. He made for the door and then he saw Adigun coming, he hid behind the curtains.
Adigun was in search of his daughter.
“Hello. Alert the gaurds,i can’t find my daughter. Search for her and bring her to me.” he spoke into the intercom. Then he closed the blinds, and then walked out of the room.
Marcus was now sweating , he came outside, took one more look at the gift, it was still intact and he moved for the door.
Marcus turned, he saw the outstretch hand with a folded fist coming for his face, he dodged it. Taylor was well trained, he brought him down with a swift turn immediately. Marcus staggered, trying to regain his balance but Taylor was on his face now with series of punches and he bled.
Taylor shot him on his balls.
He took the boxing day present, opened one of the blinds and left the building.
“How did all these link up?” he asked himself.
