Poptv Events Africa announces @cuppymusic as it’s Africa icon of the year, 2020
Poptv Events Africa, organizers of the annual Pop Culture Africa Awards have announced this year’s awardee of the African Icon of the year. In an official statement made public, the Creative director, Chinedu Nmegwah unveiled that the awards which promotes African Events and entertainment chose @cuppymusic as a result of her drive towards delivering African entertaining content as well as her philanthropic activities on the African scene.
“In line with the activities towards the awards ceremony on Friday, we would be officially announcing and unveiling the recipient of the African Icon of the year award today.” He said
Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, professionally known as Cuppy, is a Nigerian disc jockey and producer.
In August 2015, Cuppy set off on her first DJ tour to 8 cities in Africa, titled “Cuppy Takes Africa”. She visited Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa. The “Cuppy Takes Africa” tour included performances, major artist collaborations, and charitable engagements supported by GTB Bank and the Dangote Foundation
In July 2018, Cuppy launched the Cuppy Foundation. In November 2019, the foundation organized the Gold Gala and raised over N5bn for the Save the Children initiative.
The award ceremony will be held virtually on YouTube premiere on the 18th of December, 2020 via the official youtube channel, POPTV EVENTS AFRICA
